The outrageously funny story of Hedwig, a girl born a boy named Hansel in East Berlin, who fell in love with an American G.I. and underwent a sex-change operation in order to marry him and flee to the West. Unfortunately for Hedwig, nothing worked out quite as it was planned. Hedwig went on to become a rock star and is now on tour with her band telling her life story through a series of concerts at Bilgewater seafood restaurants.
